Sump Pump Reviews: Sump Pump Float Switches

Which Sump Pump Float Switch is Best?

So far, in our series of videos to educate homeowners and consumers about sump pumps, Barry Schilling first discussed how to choose a sump pump, explaining the differences between the pedestal style of pump and the more common submersible style.  He has also explained the importance of understanding pumping capacity and why consumers should consider how a pump will be used in their basement or crawl space when considering manufacturers’ capacity claims.

In this video, Barry explains the different types of float switches on sump pumps and why some are more prone to failure than others.

Sump Pump Float Switches – Tethered vs. Vertical Float

At U.S. Waterproofing, we‘ve installed tens of thousands of sump pumps (along with thousands of battery back-up pumps) since our founding in 1957.  If we can help you with your sump pump, or any other basement seepage problem, please ask for our advice.  It’s free.

live in s. fl. and looking to put a sump pump in my yard to rid the rain water before it comes to the patio...home. Going to put in a basin 2-3' below grade.
4K to 5K gallons seems more than adequate...any suggestions on size of hp or make and model?

Sump pump was on all night until I got home from work. Wiggled the float clicker a bit and it stopped and worked fine. Now as it pumps the water out and clickes of it emmidiatly clicks on within a second. Does this about 2,3,4 and also 5 before letting the rise all the way up to the on clicker. My contractor said it has not been over a year and that that is normal. Will charge me $175.00 if they come out and find nothing wrong with it. Is the Sump Pump clicker bad?
